Michael Fikaris is an award-winning artist working on comics, printmaking and murals. His comics are of the graphic design and poetry variety with roots of spiritual and social aspirations contained in the work.
Fikaris is also a perpetual advocate for community and has been coordinating anthologies, events and workshops under the name Silent Army in this city and around the world for about 20 years now. For more of his work, check out fikarisart.com and silentarmy.org.

About the publisher

Glom Press is an award-winning comics publisher and risograph press based in Thornbury, Victoria. It was started in 2016 out of a share-house with an aim to fill a gap in the Australian book industry between self-published zines and graphic novels, offering opportunities for emerging and established creators to hone and diversify their craft. Glom is co-run by four cartoonists: Bailey Sharp, Michael Hawkins, Marc Pearson and Ben Juers. Their first collection of six books, published in 2018, won silver and bronze Comic Arts Awards of Australia (CAAA). In 2021 Glom produced a second six-book collection with support from Creative Victoria, and won a Platinum CAAA award for contributions to the Australian comics community.

In 2024, Glom is excited to be publishing a new work titled Check Points by Michael Fikaris and launching a new project, also supported by Creative Victoria, focused on serialised titles and long-form storytelling. Glom Press publications to date include surreal autofiction, queer Yiddish sci-fi / westerns, deluxe art books, adventure pastiche, graphic journalism and magic realist suspense comedies, among other genres.
